Leaving The First Studio

#NAOHOAstory: On March 23rd, 2020, the UK went into lockdown. All non-essential businesses were forced to close indefinitely, in order to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Leading up to that point, I tried my best to keep things as safe as they’d always been at @NAOHOA, but was thinking of temporarily closing anyway. Lockdown just made it easier.

Unfortunately, due to a dispute with the salon owner, I left my place at City Road, of 5 years, and moved it all into storage. Much like how I left that agent to stand by my principles, I wasn’t going to allow myself to be taken advantage of – my confidence and self-respect had slipped when I was in gaming and the consequences were dire. I wasn’t going to put myself in that position again. Many thanks to those of you who supported me along the way – whether it was help moving, sending lovely messages of encouragement or a plethora of cat videos. 😸

I really feel for new businesses who had to deal with this before they could take flight. I’m grateful NAOHOA was strong enough to withstand the hit, and you’ve all been so amazing. 🙏 My savings are completely rinsed (I wasn’t eligible for government support – or rather, it was withheld from me), but it was just about enough to keep NAOHOA going for 6 months without trading. Massive big-up to @bigyellow for their incredible service and resources! 💛 I always felt safe visiting and knew that my things were secure there too.
